Account holders issue statements of defense

Copies of the Ansbacher report are being bought in their hundreds by interested law firms and members of the public.

Up to 600 copies of the report, which names the Irish citizens who maintain Ansbacher accounts, have already been sold either in CD ROM format or hard copy.

Already, some of the 190 individuals named on the list have issued statements of explanation.

The son of the late Hugh Coveney, Simon, says his family has welcomed the publication and has assisted the investigation as much as possible.

Other account holders such as property developer Joseph Clayton Love Jr and engineering firm, Pettit International, say that they acted in accordance with the law at all times.
