The Conference of the Religious in Ireland is calling on the Taoiseach to give a commitment that money will be available for the less well-off once benchmarking payments are agreed.

CORI says €1bn will have to be found for benchmarking.

Money will also have to be put aside for participants in the Special Savings Incentive scheme and Social Welfare bracket.
