FG seeks action on adoption

Fine Gael spokesman on Community Affairs, Fergus O'Dowd TD today called for closer ties with foreign adoption agencies following a suspension of facilitation arrangements by Belarussian authorities.

"Irish couples who are on waiting lists for foreign adoption are failing prey to administration problems.

"Any help the Irish Adoption Board can give to foreign adoption agencies to speed up the adoption process must be given, until a co-ordinator has been appointed to assist Irish couples in adopting a child in Belarus," he said..
