Ahern admits tough time implementing report

The Taoiseach has said that the Government will have to look at how to deal with the pay recommendations of the benchmarking body.

Mr Ahern conceded the Government will now have to look at how they will afford the pay increases.

The Taoiseach was speaking after the release of the independent report today.

It is expected the Government will have difficulty satisfying the public service sector after the Central Bank recently announced Government spending had gone out of control.
