Study shows high level of food safety concerns
Thirty-two per cent of Irish consumers have stopped eating certain foods due to safety concerns, according to a survey released today.
The study for the Food Safety Consultative Council shows that 61% of Irish people have confidence in current food safety measures, but 53% expressed concern about possible long-term health effects from certain foods.
36% said they were concerned about food safety on farms, particularly those which use fertilisers and chemicals.
