FG slams Govt over unmanned child benefit helplines

Fine Gael’s Michael Ring has slammed the Department of Health after revealing that phonelines in the child benefit sector of the department are not being attended to.

The department said calls are not being answered due to a backlog following an internal dispute settled last January, but Mr Ring called for immediate action.
