According to a report inone of today's Sunday newspapers Gardai still do not know how to enforce the law banning the use of mobile phones while driving, three months after it was introduced.

Two weeks after the law was implemented it was sent to the Attorney General’s Office for clarification on the use on two-way radio appliances which are also banned under the law.

This means that the likes of taxi drivers, ambulance drivers and Gardai would all be breaking the law if they use their radio equipment.

Under the law anyone found guilty of breaking the regulations can be fined up to €435 and three months imprisonment.

Gardai are still awaiting instructions as to the implementation of the law from the Office of the Attorney General and cannot finalise the guidelines for the force until then.
