Autumn vote on Nice Treaty

Ireland will be asked to vote again on backing the Nice Treaty on European Union enlargement in late October or early November, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern said today.

Mr Ahern was speaking at the EU summit at Seville in southern Spain where he got his European counterparts to support a declaration stating that the Treaty does not impinge on Ireland’s traditional policy of military neutrality.
