The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has denied reports that the Government is planning to hold a referendum on neutrality in tandem with the re-run of the Nice Treaty referendum later this year.

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has denied reports that the Government is planning to hold a referendum on neutrality in tandem with the re-run of the Nice Treaty referendum later this year.

Speaking in Seville, Mr Ahern said: "We should not assume that. All as we’re doing at this stage is preparing the referendum bill."
