CORI to decide on independent audit

The Conference of Religious in Ireland will decide later today whether to co-operate with the Catholic church’s independent audit of clerical sex abuse allegations.

CORI, which represents more than 150 religious orders, is due to issue a statement on the matter at its AGM in Rosslare, Co Wexford, today.

The Catholic Church established the independent audit after a BBC documentary about the victims of Fr Sean Fortune and the church’s failure to take responsibility for the paedophile priest.
