SDLP meets PSNI to discuss sectarian attacks
An SDLP delegation held talks with officials from the North’s police service last night to discuss the police response to growing attacks on vulnerable Catholic communities.
The SDLP believes the response so far has been inadequate and has warned the police that their actions in coming weeks will be closely monitored.
Spokesman Alex Atwood said: "We very forcibly outlined to the PSNI that they needed to have a vigorous prosecution and protection policy - vigorously pursuing those loyalists, both the godfathers and the foot soldiers, who are responsible for threat and terror and a very high profile and effective protection strategy to protect vulnerable nationalist communities from threat."
