Ahern to name junior ministers today
The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, is due to name his 17 junior ministers later today.
Two of the positions will go to the Progressive Democrats, with Tom Parlon and Tim O’Malley the most likely contenders.
Former Marine Minister Frank Fahey and former Sport and Tourism Minister Jim McDaid are expected to get another two, while Willie O’Dea, who was disappointed at not getting a cabinet seat, is likely to be reappointed.
Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher and Brian Lenihan are also tipped to be among the new junior ministers.
