Two people have died and a third is fighting for his life after three separate road accidents in Co Roscommon, Co Kildare and Dublin.

Two people have died and a third is fighting for his life after three separate road accidents in Co Roscommon, Co Kildare and Dublin.

A 21-year-old woman died in the first accident near Castlerea in Co Roscommon when the car in which she was travelling hit an ESB pole at around 5.45pm yesterday.

A 30-year-old man also died when the car he was driving hit a ditch in Ballymore Eustace, Co Kildare, at around 12.20am today.

Meanwhile, another man is in a serious condition in hospital after suffering head injuries in a hit-and-run in south Dublin this morning.

The man was thrown from his moped in the accident, which happened at the Stations Road-Cloverhill Road bridge in Ronanstown at around 4.20am.

The car involved in the crash was abandoned at the scene.
