Ahern: Stadium alternative not discussed
The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has revealed that the Government has not discussed any plans to scale down the controversial National Stadium project.
However, he also said he would be willing to go along with a smaller stadium if that is the preferred option.
Speaking in Jersey, Mr Ahern said: "Nobody is talking about a scaled-down stadium. I’ve always said that whatever stadium is agreed between the Government and the national governing bodies will be fine by me."
He also said he believes Ireland and Scotland’s joint bid to host the European Championships in 2008 will be successful.
