Body found in River Liffey

A garda investigation has been launched after an unidentified body was dragged from the River Liffey this afternoon.

A garda investigation has been launched after an unidentified body was dragged from the River Liffey this afternoon.

The body was spotted in the water at Custom House Quay at about 3pm and was recovered soon afterwards.

Gardai have refused to reveal if the body is that of a man or a woman and it is to be moved to the city morgue for a full post mortem examination.

Gardai and emergency services are still at the scene of the discovery.
