Clerical institutions are to give the Government millions of euro worth of property as part of a deal on compensation for the victims of abuse in state institutions.

Clerical institutions are to give the Government millions of euro worth of property as part of a deal on compensation for the victims of abuse in state institutions.

The compensation will be paid by the Government, but 18 religious orders will contribute €128m to the fund.

The institutions are also expected to hand over property worth more than €95m, according to Education Minister Michael Woods.
