A clean-up operation is continuing in Foynes Harbour in Limerick after a vessel carrying 11,000 litres of oil capsized.

Most of the oil, which leaked from the ship, has been contained although a small quantity reached a nearby beach.

Coastguard spokesperson Tony Bass said arrangements are now being made to raise the ship.

"There is various groups currently involved in a clean-up operation including the Shannon-Foynes port company, local authorities, coastguard observers and the salvers will be meeting to discuss the best way to salvage the vessel," he said.
