Survey shows business worry over World Cup absenteeism
Around 50% of businesses are expecting staff absenteeism during Ireland’s World Cup matches, according to a survey conducted by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce.
Employers are expecting some workers to ring in sick, but the Chamber of Commerce said most businesses will make the effort to allow fans to watch the games.
A spokesman said 60% of companies will facilitate staff in watching Ireland’s first-round games by bringing TVs into the workplace or arranging more flexible hours.
