Organised crime report to be launched today

Northern Secretary John Reid is due to launch the annual report of the North’s task force on organised crime later today.

The scheme, incorporating greater co-operation between police and customs officials, was established a year ago to tackle criminal gangs.

The British government will also deliver its annual threat assessment later today.
