Search for body in Monaghan abandoned

A garda dig in Co Monaghan for the remains of a man who disappeared 20 years ago was abandoned this morning.

The dig began two weeks ago after fresh information emerged about the disappearance of Charles Armstrong.

Mr Armstrong disappeared in south Armagh and is believed to have been killed by the IRA.

However, the search for his remains proved fruitless.
