Fire-fighters continue to battle Roscommon blaze
Fire-fighters from three counties are still at the scene of a major fire at a meat plant in Co Roscommon.
The Glanbia pig-processing plant has been extensively damaged in the blaze, which broke out in the Bacon curing section and spread quickly.
Residents in the town of Rooskey were told to close their windows for a time, amid fears that some of the smoke from the plant was toxic.
Tanaiste Mary Harney, who was campaigning in the area, has arrived on the site and is currently surveying the damage.
Spokesperson for Glanbia, Michael Patten, said: "We will be seeking to ensure that we look after our customers needs and continue to serve the market as quickly as possible.
"The Rooskey plant is insured for damage or loss and we want to ensure people that we will be bringing the plant back into production as soon as possible."
