24 arrested during 'Reclaim the Streets' demonstration

Gardai in Dublin arrested 24 people yesterday after an anti-capitalist protest in the city.

Around 300 demonstrators took part in the “Reclaim the Streets” march, which began at around 6pm.

Gardai used batons on the crowd as the protest turned violent and confiscated drums and sleeping bags from the protestors.

The 24 people who were arrested are due to face public order charges, including assault and criminal damage, over the coming fortnight.
