Fine Gael leader Michael Noonan has promised to open talks with low-cost airlines to attract more traffic into Shannon Airport if his party is elected to power on May 17.

Speaking on a visit to Shannon, Mr Noonan unveiled a list of pledges for the mid-west region, including investment in Ennis Hospital, the development of roads in west Clare, the upgrading of the rail link between Limerick and Sligo and the development of an integrated planning policy for the entire western coastline.
