Man charged with kidnap of security company driver's son

A 38-year-old man from Lisburn Co Antrim was due in court today after being charged with kidnap, blackmail and possession of firearms and ammunition.

The charges relate to an attempt to steal £300,000 (€485,000) from a security firm by taking a driver’s son hostage last week.

The man is expected to appear before Lisburn magistrates today.

A second man being questioned by detectives investigating the incident was released last night without charge.
