An opinion poll in Kerry North suggests Fianna Fáil will lose its only seat in the constituency to Sinn Féin’s Martin Ferris.

An opinion poll in Kerry North suggests Fianna Fáil will lose its only seat in the constituency to Sinn Féin’s Martin Ferris.

The poll in the Kerryman newspaper shows Councillor Ferris coming out on top with 30% of the support.

Sinn Féin has been a constant thorn to the Fianna Fáil party in the area for the last five years and this latest poll will come as a major blow for the party.

It shows FF at a rock bottom 21% with Dan Kiely on 8% and Tom McEllistrim on 13%.

The transfer pattern is tighter than expected. The poll shows former Labour leader, Dick Spring, elected on the second count from Martin Ferris’ surplus and Fine Gael’s Jimmy Deenihan would take the third seat just ahead of Tom McEllistrim.
