Work to restart on €2.25bn chip plant

Intel announced tonight it is expanding its chip-making capacity and will restart construction on a €2.25bn factory in Leixlip, Co Kildare that was halted during economic downturn.

The new factory will produce next-generation microprocessors on silicon wafers slightly larger and cost efficient.
