MACROOM native Ann Kelleher has become the first Irishwoman to be appointed as a vice-president of Intel, in a significant endorsement of the contribution of Irish talent to the multinational.

Intel announced tonight it is expanding its chip-making capacity and will restart construction on a €2.25bn factory in Leixlip, Co Kildare that was halted during economic downturn.
