Young boy dies after falling into river in Co Clare

A four-year-old boy has died in Limerick Regional Hospital after falling into the River Shannon in Cloonlara in Co Clare this afternoon.

A four-year-old boy has died in Limerick Regional Hospital after falling into the River Shannon in Cloonlara in Co Clare this afternoon.

The boy is believed to have been playing on a footbridge in the town when he fell into the water at around 2.40pm.

He was found unconscious a short time later and rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 6.40pm.
