Haemophiliacs’ awards scheme approved by Dáil

The Dáil has approved a scheme providing further compensation to haemophiliacs who contracted HIV through contaminated blood products distributed by the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.

The Government made last-minute amendments to the legislation last night following representations from two support groups, Transfusion Positive and Positive Action.
