Martin to meet haemophiliacs' group today
The Minister for Health is to meet the Irish Haemophiliac Society this morning in an attempt to defuse a row over new legislation to compensate members infected by contaminated blood products.
The IHS is threatening to withdraw support for the Bill, which is due to be debated in the Dáil later today.
The society claims that HIV and Hepatitis C-affected victims are being punished by a provision which states that any previous award given for Hepatitis infection would be considered when HIV was taken into account.
