The Catholic Bishops have pledged to establish an "independent audit" into how complaints of child abuse within the diocese of Ferns, were dealt with.

At a press conference following a day-long extraordinary general meeting in Maynooth, Archbishop Sean Brady said all files considered necessary by the audit would be made available.
