Boy drowns in Tipp bog accident

A five-year-old boy has died in Tipperary after falling into a water-filled bog hole near Littleon.

The boy was believed to be playing near the spot in the Derrynaflane Bog around lunchtime when he accidentally fell in.

The alarm was raised shortly after 1:00pm when the boy’s absence was discovered.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at Our Lady’s Hospital in Cashel.

The victim's family had only moved to the area recently.
