Longford house fire victims named

A baby and his great-grandmother have been killed in a house fire in Co Longford.

The blaze broke out in the kitchen of their home just before 10.30pm last night at a house in Springlawn Estate in Longford Town.

The deceased have been named as Ellie Lawrence, 92, and her 12-month-old great grandson, Michael Doyle.

The baby’s parents managed to escape from the fire. A post mortem will be carried out on the bodies at Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar later today.
