Boy's body found after fireworks
Dublin’s night of fireworks has left one boy dead after the city centre celebrations.
The body of a teenage boy was taken out of the River Liffey in the centre of the city during the night.
A search for the young boy began just after 10pm last night following reports that two people had been seen entering the water between the Halfpenny bridge and O’Connell bridge.
The boy’s body was recovered by garda sub aqua divers and a second teenager was brought to hospital where his condition is not known.
The quays area was very busy at the time when the boys entered the water as people were making their way home from the annual St Patrick’s Skyfest fireworks display in Dublin.
