Ahern hits out at Trimble abortion poll comments

Ulster Unionist leader David Trimble was wrong to insist that the abortion referendum was a sectarian exercise, the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern insisted tonight.

The Fianna Fail leader claimed after a reception for Irish politicians in the White House at a meeting with President Bush that Mr Trimble was incorrect in his assessment of last week’s referendum.
