Abortion statement 'an extraordinary revelation'

A claim by a Government minister that there have been several attempts by women to have abortion on the basis of being suicidal has sparked a fresh political row.

In a debate on MidWest and NorthWest Radio, Marine Minister Frank Fahey said he is aware of an occasion where the medical profession has refused to carry out an abortion in such a situation.
