Taoiseach expresses sympathy to British Royal Family

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has expressed his sympathy to the British Royal Family after the death of Princess Margaret earlier today.

In a statement issued this afternoon Ahern said "on my own behalf and on the behalf of my cabinet colleagues I wish to convey our deepest condolences to you on the death of her Royal Highness Princess Margaret.

"Please accept our deepest sympathy on your sad loss."

Princess Margaret, 71, died earlier today after suffering a second stroke yesterday afternoon.
