The Taoiseach has defended the decision by the Minister for Finance to attend a fundraising dinner for Fianna Fail backbencher Noel O'Flynn.

The opposition heavily criticised Charlie McCreevy for supporting the Cork deputy after remarks he made labelling asylum seekers as 'spongers' and 'freeloaders'.
