Gardai try to identify canal body

The Assistant State pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy and Garda forensic experts will return to west Dublin this morning to attempt to identify the body of the man found in a shallow grave.

The Assistant State pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy and Garda forensic experts will return to west Dublin this morning to attempt to identify the body of the man found in a shallow grave.

The body was discovered yesterday buried on the banks of the Grand Canal at the ninth lock in Clondalkin.

It is believed to be the body of a 17-year-old who has been missing from his Ballyfermot home in Dublin since 1999.
