FG to raise Garda-Omagh connection in Dail
Fine Gael is to raise the attendance of two senior Gardai at today’s Omagh talks in the Dail.
Party leader Michael Noonan said he fears that the Gardai’s presence at a meeting between Ronnie Flanagan and the relatives of victims of the Omagh bombing could be interpreted as support for the North’s chief constable in his bitter dispute with Police Ombudsman Nuala O’Loan.
The Government said Assistant Commissioner Kevin Carty and Superintendent Tadgh Foley were sent to the meeting to update the relatives on the progress of the Omagh investigation south of the border.
