Govt vows to open 709 new hospital beds in 2002

The Government has claimed that 709 additional acute hospital beds will become available this year as part of its much-vaunted national health strategy.

Health Minister Micheal Martin said Naas General Hospital will get 91 new beds - the largest single allocation - while Dublin hospitals will get just under 250.
