Anger over Lawlor airport controversy

Dermot O’ Leary, the Fianna Fail activist at the centre of the Liam Lawlor airport controversy, could be sacked from the board of Aer Rianta if outraged opposition parties get their way.

It has emerged that Mr O’ Leary organised the preferential treatment for the deputy as he returned from New York to begin a second jail term for contempt. The Labour Party has demanded he be sacked from his position on the Aer Rianta board.

The airlines Chairman, Noel Hanlon, has admitted their actions were wrong but insists nothing illegal was done.

It was reported today that Dermot O’ Leary has no intention of resigning from his director’s post.
