Sinn Fein President, Gerry Adams, today hit back at claims that his party was unfit to join a coalition in the next Government of Ireland because of his party’s "association" with the IRA.

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern earlier this week said they would not share a Government with Sinn Fein, which was linked to a "private army".
