Donegal locals mount blockade in road protest

Taxi and lorry drivers are expected to mount a blockade on the N56 in Co Donegal this morning to protest at the poor state of the road between the towns of Glenties and Ardara.

Local taxi drivers and businessmen are furious that the National Roads Authority has failed to improve the road, which they claim is so bad that it is set to cripple the commercial life of both towns.

The parish council in Ardara and the town traders’ group in Glenties said motorists in their areas are entitled to the same standard of roads as motorists in the rest of Ireland.
