Man killed in road accident in Co Cork

A man has been killed in a road accident in Co Cork this morning.

The accident occurred on the Bandon to Dunmanway Road at Enniskeane, when a lorry failed to take a bend and crashed through a wall.

The truck, which was carrying a load of sugar beet, came to a halt outside a pub and a shop when it collided with another vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle, a married man who is believed to be in his fifties with three children, was killed in the crash.

He was rushed from the scene to Cork University Hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Gardai in Bandon are investigating the incident which occurred at about 11.15am this morning.
