Byrne charged with affray and assault

Irish soccer star Desmond Byrne has been charged with affray and assault after an alleged nightclub fight.

Dublin born Byrne is a defender with Wimbledon football club and has played for the Republic of Ireland’s under 21 squad.

He was arrested along with Chelsea’s John Terry following an incident at a private members club in central London in the early hours of yesterday.

The footballers have been released on bail and are due before a magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
