The 19-year-old man who died after a pipe bomb he was manufacturing exploded in his face in Coleraine, Co Derry, has been named.

William Moore Campbell died man died instantly when the device exploded in an alleyway at the rear of a house on Winston Way, in the Heights area of the town, late last night.

Several houses were evacuated following the blast last night and bomb disposal experts were sent to examine a second device found nearby.

The incident is believed to be loyalist-related and the dead man is believed to have lived nearby.

A police spokesman said this morning: "At this moment in time, it would appear that he was working on the device and it exploded in his face."
