Euro introduction welcomed by Ahern

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, is hailing the Euro changeover as a massive success, just hours after its official introduction to the Irish public.

Mr Ahern made his first purchases using the new Euro in a newsagent's in Drumcondra in Dublin, which is part of his constituency.
