ASTI to re-examine stance on pay issues
The central executive of the Association of Secondary Teachers is meeting in Dublin today to discuss the Government’s pay offer for supervision and substitution duties and the possibility of co-operating with the benchmarking scheme.
The ASTI has rejected the Government’s £27-per-hour non-pensionable pay offer for supervision and substitution duties, which are currently undertaken voluntarily.
However, the central executive is expected to discuss putting this offer to a ballot of all ASTI members.
The union has also boycotted the Government’s benchmarking scheme, but is today expected to discuss the possibility of pursuing its 30% pay claim through this scheme.
