The Government today lost its bid to block the controversial reprocessing facility at the Sellafield nuclear plant in Cumbria.

The Government today lost its bid to block the controversial reprocessing facility at the Sellafield nuclear plant in Cumbria.

An international tribunal in Hamburg rejected the Government’s bid to force Britain to suspend a decision allowing the Mox plant to resume production of mixed-oxide fuel.

The facility was closed down in 1996 because of financial and safety concerns.
